This year's Scottish

Well, weather couldn't have been better for the Scottish Rally - not a drop of rain all day! I had a very pleasant tour up the east coast from Musselburgh to Peterhead and then across to Elgin before dropping down to Dalwhinnie for an excellent trout and finishing via Fort William and Tyndrum around 9.30 for a Merit award. Also managed to collect ten Round Britain Rally landmarks along the way and visited the two Scottish National Parks for the BNPR ride. Good to catch up with a few folk (and Graham) and meet Colin who organises the rally. Hope you all had an enjoyable outing!

You are right about the weather makes a change as it can be a little unpleasant some years. Went for the distance award this year but the controls never change so always try to go a different route, done the distance a few times now and it always seems to be round the highlands, so this year started at johnstone bridge. then went south (Dumfries) and across towards Edingbourough then up through the pass of glen shee and through the great glen and on to clunie then back down the West cost and across to Stirling. A great days riding spent the night at the final control and had a couple of pints with the organisers very relaxed and laid back about it all. Perhaps that is why i go back every year. I've done the Scottish for ten years plus but whilst chatting at the finnish there was the question of how long it has been running does any one Know? I believe prior to this Rally there was something by the way of visiting castles in scotland.

I think the SMC used to organise a Challenge ride which involved visiting Scottish Castles Dave, and were talking about doing it again a year or two back but have heard nothing since from them.
